The article gives a review of different patristic interpretations of the meaning of Jesus’ tears and sorrow at Lasor’s tomb (see Jn. 11: 35). His tears in the dogmatic
and Christological sense clearly witness that Son of God
became truly human and lamented specifically in His
human nature. His tears are nevertheless tears of Son
of God, the Second Person of Holy Trinity, though they
pertain to His human nature. The article also deals with
moral, pedagogical and physio-anthropological aspects of
patristic interpretation of the lamentation of Christ.
