To date, researchers are particularly interested in the history of the life path and archpastoral ministry of hierarchs in the Synodal period. Among the bishops of the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries, the personality of the famous hierarch, theological writer and missionary Archbishop of Warsaw and Privislensky province Nicholas (Ziorov) stands out. Currently, the activities of Archbishop Nicholas are insufficiently studied. In this article new facts from the biography of the hierarch are introduced into the scientific circulation. The study provides information about the period of service of the future archpastor at the Vologda Seminary, as well as about his role in the formation of the future famous church scientist N. N. Glubokovsky. The materials from the diary of the assistant inspector of the Vologda Theological Seminary Nikifor Ilyinsky, which is kept in the State Archive of the Vologda region, are used as a source. These materials are introduced into the scientific circulation for the first time.
