Тhe word as an element of the lexical structure of the text (by the example of the analysis of the semantic relations of the word “soul” in a literary text)
Keywords:
word in the text, lexical structure of the text, semantic structure of the text, artistic text, semantic connections of wordsAbstract
The article is devoted to the study of semantic connections of words in a literary text. In particular, on the example of the analysis of the word soul in the monological utterances of the protagonist of Boris Pasternak’s novel “Doctor Zhivago”, textual modifications of the semantic structure of the word are described in detail, new semantic relations are built based on the associative connections of this word with other lexical units. The methodology of analyzing the lexical structure of text fragments is based on the principles and approaches of such a scientific field of linguistics as functional lexicology. On the one hand, the analyzed word is described as a unit of the language system, on the other hand, based on a thorough study of the functional properties of the word soul, new paradigmatic and syntagmatic connections are formed in the text, due solely to the context. The analysis makes it possible to develop mechanisms for describing the lexical and semantic structure of the text, as well as to identify patterns in the development of semantic transformations in a literary text.
