Expression of will in sermons archimandrite John (Krestyankin)

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of ways of expressing will in the sermons of Archimandrite John (Krestiankin), a wellknown Orthodox preacher of the second half of the 20th century, an elder and confessor of the Pskov-Caves Monastery. In this study, the texts of sermons from two volumes of the collection of sermons “In the footsteps of the gospel story” are considered. It is concluded that the expression of will in the studied texts can be different; its semantics is formed by both the forms of the imperative and the subjunctive mood, the so-called free combinations with particles пусть, да.
