The religious allusions in А. Тarkovsky’s film “Stalker”

The article considers and analyses visual, sound and verbal systems that A. Tarkovsky uses in the film “Stalker”. In the field of semiotics, the authors consider all the poetic figures that are part of religious discourse used by the director: allusions, metaphors, allegories, images. The influence of New Testament’s text embodied on the screen is researched through the perception of the movie. As part of the director's and audience reflection, allusions to such biblical concepts as punishment, sin, repentance, truth, Salvation and God are analyzed. Religious references identified by the authors of the article construct the formal and meaningful architectonics of the film.
