Abstract

One of the most prominent theologians of the Russian Orthodox Church in the second half of the twentieth century,
Archbishop Mikhail (Mudyugin), lived a bright life. One of the important but unexplored pages of his life is the period of the Great
Patriotic War, when he, having been evacuated with his family to the Urals and then to Siberia, worked as an engineer at large factories in the rear. These years are associated with the bitterness of loss – the death of a young son, as well as creative pursuits – an attempt to try himself as a writer. These details of the biography resonated during the years of teaching at the Leningrad Theological Academy. The article is devoted to clarifying some of the details.
