Abstract

The article explores the role of the Krypetsk St. John the Theologian Monastery in the events of the Great Patriotic War in
the Pskov region. The focus is on the contradictory situation of the monastery, which found itself in a zone of active hostilities, partisan resistance and Nazi occupation. The article also examines the activities of the Pskov Orthodox Mission, which organized religious processions to the monastery in 1942, despite its partial destruction (according to one version– arson by partisans). The article analyzes publications in the collaborationist newspaper “Za Rodinu”, reflecting the attempts of the German administration to use the religious factor for propaganda purposes.
